Nafziger, Carmilla Sue "Mel" Grieser
January 25, 1951 - November 21, 2023
Carmilla Sue Nafziger “Mel” (1951-2023) – Carmilla Sue Nafziger, age 72, of Archbold, OH was accepted into the arms of her Heavenly Father, November 21, 2023. She was born to Leon “Smokey” and Betty Grieser on January 25th, 1951 in Wauseon, OH. She was raised and lived in the Archbold area her whole life. She was a graduate of Archbold High School, and the Bowling Green Area School of Practical Nursing with her License in Practical Nursing. September 11, 1976 she married Edwin Nafziger, and he survives.
Mel used her nursing skills for 44 years, working at the Fulton County Health Center, the Archbold Medical Group, and Hospice and Visiting Nurses of Northwest Ohio. She enjoyed volunteering at Care & Share and serving at church. She and Ed attended Tedrow Mennonite Church. There she was known to teach children’s lessons, and Sunday school on Sunday mornings; she enjoyed singing, working in the church library, and helping during coffee time.
She will be missed dearly by her husband Ed of 47 years, her son, Landon (Kasey) Nafziger of Archbold, daughter, Emily (A. J.) Riegsecker, of Wauseon, and her six grandchildren: Autumn, Clayton, and Brynlee Nafziger; Aileigh, Aadon, and Easton Riegsecker. Siblings Jim Grieser, Don Grieser (Richard Gibb), Ed Grieser, Donna Augustine, Max (Beverly) Grieser, and Patricia (Homer) Miller, sister-in-law Connie (Phil) Grieser, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Phil Grieser, and nephew, Jeff Pach.
Family and friends can call at Tedrow Mennonite Church on Sunday, November 26th from 3-7 PM. A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 27th at 11 am with Pastor Doug King officiating. Short Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. The family suggests memorials be given to Hermelin Brain Tumor Center, or Hospice and Visiting Nurses of Northwest Ohio.
Neff, John W.
December 13, 1926 - February 13, 2023
John W. Neff, 96, of Lititz, and formerly of Landisville; died peacefully at Landis Homes, and went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 13, 2023. Born in Landisville, he was the son of the late John S. and Ella Bowers Neff. John was the loving husband of Irene S. Martin Neff and they observed their 15th wedding anniversary in December of last year. John's first wife was the late Lorraine Hess Neff who died in April 2007 following 58 years of marriage.
John was a charter member of Neffsville Mennonite Church, Lancaster, where he served as an usher and on the Board of Elders. Early in his life he was a farmer for many years, choosing organic farming before it was known and poplar with many in the agriculture community. Equal to his passion for farming was his passion for helping people find their new home. In 1966 John was a partner in forming Garden Spot Real Estate, and later he founded Town and Country Realty of Lancaster. John was treasurer for the Lancaster Board of Realtors and was awarded Realtor of the year in 1984. He was known to be personable, kind, and honest in all he did.
Faith, family, friends, and community were cherished by John. John and Lorraine sang together in a gospel quartet called the Gardenspotters for a time; and he also enjoyed snow skiing, golf, gardening, and spending winters in their Florida home in Sarasota. There was often a "Make A Million" or pinochle card game or Bocce' with friends. He especially loved listening to gospel music and spending time with his family. John was very civic minded, being a member of Rotary Club West of Lancaster, serving as Judge of Elections for 23 years, and volunteering on the administrative board for Mount Joy Gift and Thrift. John and Irene enjoyed their last 10 years at Landis Homes Community.
Surviving in addition to his wife Irene, is a daughter, Darlene wife of Michael Hamlin of Landisville, a son, J. Gary husband of Marsha Neff of Lancaster, a step daughter, Cheryl Leaman of Ephrata, two step sons: Cliff husband of Ramonda Leaman of Irmo, SC, Bryan husband of Ann Leaman of Louisville, OH, five grandchildren, six step grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death are three sisters: Arlene Brubaker, Verna Siegrist, and Evelyn Rohrer.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend John's memorial service at the Neffsville Mennonite Church, 2371 Lititz Pike, Lancaster, on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 11:00 AM. Friends may visit with the family at the church on Saturday morning, March 11, 2023 from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent in John's memory to: Neffsville Mennonite Church, 2371 Lititz Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601 or to the charity of one's choice.
Newswanger, Daniel B.
September 2, 1965 - October 8, 2023
Daniel B. Newswanger, 58, of East Earl, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 8. 2023 at Tower Health Reading Hospital.
He was married 24 years to Mabel Nolt Newswanger. Born in East Earl, he was the son of the late Wayne Z. and Anna S. Brubaker Newswanger.
Daniel had been employed as a carpenter for Spring Hollow Construction. He was a member of the Churchtown Mennonite Church, Weaverland Conference.
Surviving besides his wife is a daughter Lisa Newswanger and a son Randy Newswanger both at home; seven brothers, Wilmer husband of Edna (Hoover) Newswanger of Mohnton, Allen husband of Sue Etta (Kilmer) Newswanger of East Earl, Ivan husband of Susie (Martin) Newswanger of Goshen, IN, Samuel husband of Loretta (Martin) Newswanger of Goshen, IN, Walter husband of Elsie (Zeiset) Newswanger of Platteville, WI, Mervin husband of Martha (Hurst) Newswanger of East Earl, and Reuben husband of Martha (Fox) Newswanger of Williamsburg, PA; two sisters, Susan Newswanger of East Earl, and Ella wife of Ivan Hurst of Latham, MO. He was preceded in death by a sister, Laura Newswanger.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 13, at 9:30 A.M. at the Churchtown Mennonite Church, 2207 Main St., Narvon, PA with Bishop Leon Zimmerman officiating. Newswanger, Ellen Gehman

Ellen (Gehman) Newswanger entered into rest on March 26, 2023, in Earl Township, Lancaster County. She suffered from late-onset Alzheimer's disease. Ellen was born in Lancaster, Wednesday, March 18, 1936, on a windy, rainy day during a week of epic flooding in Pennsylvania.
Her parents, Anna Eby Gehman and Allan E. Gehman brought baby Ellen home to a new home on S. Cherry Lane, Ronks, where she spent an idyllic, farmstead childhood. Cats, chickens, goats, and a pony were among young Ellen's menagerie of pets and inspired her lifelong love for animals. By her own account, her father Allan doted on his only daughter. Ellen and her older brother Glenn were conscious that not all enjoyed life as they did, as she accompanied Allan to Lancaster city to collect rents. She recalled her father's sense of charity, which she strove to emulate. Allan was characterized by helping his tenants with their rents, and the purchase of their first automobiles. Ellen thought this was good in the sight of God.
The Gehman family attended meeting every Sunday at Paradise Mennonite Church, which proved to be the nucleus of Ellen's social circle. Bishop Harold Book with his many daughters lived on the neighboring farm. Ellen fostered childhood friendships that extended into this century. Before she graduated from East Lampeter High School in 1954, she noticed dashing, dark-haired Everett Newswanger peeking out to see her from behind the curtains where he was performing in the high school play. After school, Ellen, who was a prized employee in the payroll department at Educators Mutual Life Insurance company, pushed the limits of contemporary Mennonite dress, sporting her famous fur coat.
Ellen and Everett Newswanger were wed on April 27, 1957, at Paradise Mennonite Church. They began to "keep house" at a farm on Kinzer Road just south of the railroad, adjoining the farm of Paul and Elsie Ranck Newswanger, Everett's parents. In life and vocation, Ellen was determined to live to the full in the most righteous ways possible. "C'mon! Let's go!" was one of her frequent sayings. And "go" they did. Little Ann was born in the spring of 1958, followed by their son, tow-headed Gene, four years later. Reflecting Ellen's flair, the children were well-dressed and surrounded by kittens and puppies, and the sundry delights of farm life.
Vocational circumstances moved the family off the farm and into one of Allan Gehman's houses fronting the Lincoln Highway in Bridgeport. Ellen engaged in vocational pursuits that included driving school bus, delivering flowers and lawn mower parts, and perhaps most importantly, adding the care of parents and in-laws to her daily responsibilities. She kept her elder care sufferings to herself as she spun creative endeavors that portrayed her artistic talents.
Ellen kept a sharp eye on Ann and Gene's respective romantic interests which eventually led to the marriage of Ann to Stephen Weaver, and Gene to Joy Teufel Newswanger. In time the "grandgirls" were born, Allison Weaver and Thea (Weaver) Sander (spouse of Jeremy Sander), Grace Newswanger (spouse of Erenalp Yerdelenli), and Hope Newswanger (spouse of Raymond Darwin). Ellen is also the proud great-grandmother of Levi Sander.
Ellen and Everett were inseparable. They were known by their peers for their bicycling trips and auction forays. After Everett's retirement as editor of the Lancaster Farming weekly, they crossed the continent west to east with the Lancaster Bicycling Club. Ellen loved to make money, and every cent made from the resale of an auction or garage sale item went to charity.
Their joy of retirement together came to a crashing halt when Everett died suddenly in 2006. Ellen endured widowhood stoically, enjoying her Strasburg Mennonite Church friends and her life-long "circle" groups. Her surprise 75th birthday party, hosted by Gene and Ann with over 100 folks in attendance is still remembered fondly by her surviving friends and family.
Not wanting "to burden" the children with her end-of-life care, Ellen enrolled at Garden Spot Village. "It's like a college dorm!" was her assessment of independent living with her friends. Bicycling remained a highlight for her. Ellen rode 2000 miles in 2006 alone. Her good nature shown through during the cruel and slow progression of the Alzheimer's disease. Even in her confusion, she expressed a longing for release into the life to come in her heavenly homeland.
Ellen was predeceased by her brother Glenn, her parents and in-laws, her husband Everett, and brother-in-law Carl Newswanger. She is survived by her children and their spouses, her grandchildren, her great-grandson, two sisters-in-law, June Gehman and Gladys Newswanger, and six nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to Ellen's memorial service in the Garden Spot Village Chapel, Saturday, April 15 at 11:00 a.m., with Chet Yoder and Mark Hickson presiding. A time of visitation with the family will follow in the Garden Spot Village Park following the service.
A private internment will take place at the convenience of the family in the Paradise Mennonite Church cemetery.
Newswanger, Rachel E. Kulp
January 30, 1929 - December 18, 2023
Rachel E. (Kulp) Newswanger, 94 years, 10 months, 18 days, of Maxatawny Township, died peacefully Monday, December 18, 2023, in her home surrounded by family. She was the widow of Isaac Z. Newswanger, who died September 17, 2001. Born in Maple River Township, Emmet County, Michigan, Rachel was a daughter of the late Manasseh B. and Amanda B. (Eby) Kulp. She was a member of the Groffdale Conference of Mennonites and attended Center Mennonite Church, Kutztown.
She and her husband were farmers and operated Newswanger's Roadside Stand and Greenhouse, where they sold produce, annuals, perennials and vegetable plants.
Mrs. Newswanger is survived by three daughters: Mabel K. (Newswanger), wife of Norman W. Burkholder, Mertztown; Rachel K. (Newswanger), wife of Alvin K. Shirk, Flemington, MO; Edna K. (Newswanger), wife of Eugene R. Weaver, Fleetwood; sons: Isaac K., husband of Vera M. (Kurtz) Newswanger, Carson City, MI; Phares K., husband of Ellen W. (Burkholder) Newswanger, Kutztown; Lawrence K., husband of Lucy W. (Burkholder) Newswanger, Carson City, MI; Other survivors include, daughter-in-law, Vera R. (Weaver) Newswanger, widow of predeceased son Ernest K. Newswanger, Kutztown; and son-in-law, Elmer O., husband of Susanna B. (Martin) Ringler (widower of predeceased daughter, Rebecca K. (Newswanger) Ringler. There are also two sisters, MaryAnn E. (Kulp), widow of David Z. Newswanger, Fortuna, MO; and Lydia Ann (Kulp), widow of Christian G. Weaver, Goshen, IN; 71 grandchildren and 269 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband Isaac, her parents, and the others mentioned, Rachel was predeceased by a daughter Lena K. Newswanger; a sister Lena Ann E. (Kulp) Kilmer; four brothers, Paul E. Kulp, Isaac E. Kulp, Cyrus E. Kulp, and Reuben E. Kulp. Mrs. Newswanger was also predeceased by six grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 23, 2023, at 9:30 a.m. at Center Mennonite Church, 88 Deysher Road, Kutztown, with Bishop Eli W. Burkholder, officiating. Interment in the adjoining cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing on Friday from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 PM at the residence of Grandson Luke W. and Elsie B. (Leid) Newswanger, 90 High Road, Kutztown.

Robert "Bob" Newswanger, 93, a resident of Fairmount Homes, was called home by his Lord and Savior on Friday, September 1, 2023.
He was the husband of the late Elva M. Martin Newswanger who died September 4, 2022. Born in Ephrata, he was the son of the late Amos and Lydia Reinhart Newswanger.
Early in life Bob had been a farmer then a meat cutter at Blainsport and later bread man at Adamstown for Weaver Market.
He was a regular attender of Petra Church in New Holland. For many years he had been involved with the Haiti Relief Sale, Stony Brook Hunting Camp and Rough and Tumble. He enjoyed restoring tractors. Bob was known for his compassionate concern for the underprivileged and those less fortunate.
Surviving are four children, Kathy (Delmar) Martin of Mohnton, R. Bruce Newswanger (Tim Portolese) of Elkhart, IN, Audrey (Henk) Wandel, of New Holland, and Glenda (Eric) Groff of Lancaster, eight grandchildren, Kristina (Brian) Flewelling, Kimberly (Anthony) King, Ryan (Tina) Martin, Eryin (Alyssa) Wandel, Erika (Logan) Eby, Erin (Eric) Bailey, Taylor Groff and Ethan Groff; eleven great grandchildren, Ariana, Sophia and Elliott Flewelling, Olivia, Tyler, Madison and Dylan King, and Judah, Eva and Jase Martin, and Jamison Eby; and one sister, Anna Ginder. Preceded in death by siblings Walter, Paul, Edith Seibel Good, Raymond, Elsie Martin, Amos Jr., Lester, Richard.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, September 5, at 6:30 P.M. at Petra Church, 565 Airport Road, New Holland, PA. Sarah Joy Newswanger, infant daughter of Matthew and Anna (Sylvia) Newswanger of Paradise, was stillborn on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at Women & Babies Hospital of Lancaster. Sarah Joy will always be treasured and loved.
Others mourning her loss are grandparents: David and Jeanne (Gardiner) Sylvia of Lancaster, Eli and Minerva (Sensenig) Newswanger of Leola, and Sarah Joy's aunts, uncles, cousins and great grandparents.
A private family graveside service will take place at the Paradise Mennonite Cemetery on Thursday, March 16th.
Newswanger, Shalom Lorraine

Shalom Lorraine Newswanger passed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on August 29, 2023.
Shalom was characterized from birth by a love of adventure and novelty.
Alive with imaginative play, her childhood was full of rich experiences alongside her loyal and beloved twin, Jenna. She was homeschooled for ten years of education.
Shalom trusted Jesus as her personal Saviour and was baptized as a teenager.
Shalom was a sensitive young woman with a deep, internal world. She was tenacious in her pursuit of music and art, passionately creating beauty.
A devoted caregiver to her pets, she even braved Wyoming blizzards to feed her well-loved horses.
She is survived by her parents, Jim and Rachel Newswanger, siblings Ryan, Eden, Jenna, Anwyn, and Sophia, of Carpenter, WY; paternal grandparents, James Lee and Clara Newswanger of Ephrata, PA; maternal grandparents, Dennis and Ruth Baer of Carpenter, WY; best friend, Jessica Reimer; and many uncles, aunts, and cousins.
Shalom will be fondly remembered for her sparkling smile, loving-hearted acts of service, generous gift giving, and beautiful music. We grieve but rejoice, knowing she is surrounded by pleasures forevermore.

Barbara M. Nisley, 70, of 8020 East Moreland Rd., Fredericksburg, Ohio died Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2023 at her home.
She was born in Maysville on Sept. 23, 1952 to Mose J. and Susie (Yoder) Nisley and was a member of the New Order Amish Church.
Surviving are her 2 sisters and 5 brothers, Katie Nisley and William Nisley of the Home, Jonas and Susie Nisley of Loudonville, Elizabeth (the late William) Schmucker of Fredericksburg, Abner and Barbara Nisley of Fredericksburg, Eli and Malinda Nisley of Holmesville and Mose (the late Fannie) Nisley Jr. of Fredericksburg; sister-in-law, Sarah (the late Roy) Nisley of Apple Creek and 37 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, David and Roy; a sister, Sarah, brother-in-law, William Schmucker, sister-in-law, Fannie Nisley, two nephews, Levi M. Nisley and William R. Nisley and a niece, Rebecca J. Nisley.
Services will be Saturday, Feb. 18th at 9:00 a.m. at the residence with Bishop Enos C. Miller officiating. Burial will be in Troyer Cemetery at Fredericksburg and pallbearers will be, Samuel Yoder, Michael Hostetler, Daniel Troyer and Joe Miller. Friends may call after 2:00 p.m. on Thursday and anytime on Friday. Murray Funeral Home in Fredericksburg is handling arrangements.

Ida E. (Chupp) Nisley, 93, of 9540 Township Road 659, Dundee, passed away Monday, June 5, 2023 at her home following a period of declining health.
She was born near Apple Creek on February 25, 1930 to the late Ezra J. and Lovina J. (Miller) Chupp and married Eli J. Nisley on December 14, 1950. He died February 22, 2014.
She was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
She is survived by her five children, Amanda (late Marvin) Miller of Winesburg, Mary Ann (Edwin) Miller of Dundee, Mattie (late Levi) Raber of Mount Eaton, Joseph (Freda) Nisley of the home and Clara (Wyman) Yoder of Dundee; 31 grandchildren; 71 great grandchildren; a brother, Ezra of Akron; a half brother, Monroe of Fredericksburg; sisters, Mattie of Sarasota, FL and Fannie of Patriot, OH; a brother-in-law, Atlee Burkholder; sisters-in-law, Edna Chupp, Anna Chupp and Malinda Chupp; her caregivers, Elizabeth Yoder, Sarah Miller and Delila Swartzentruber.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sons-in-law, Marvin Miller and Levi Raber; a grandchild; a great grandchild; six brothers; a half brother; four sisters; and two half brothers.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at 9:00 AM at the family residence, 10792 Senff Road, Dundee, with Minister Marion Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Nisley Cemetery in Paint Township, Wayne County. Friends may call any time after 3:00 pm on Tuesday and anytime on Wednesday at the family residence. Spidell Funeral Home in Mount Eaton is handling the arrangements.

Mary Ellen Nisley, 84, of Goshen (district: 72), died at 7:15 am, on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at her family residence. She was born on September 10, 1938, in Middlebury, to Abe J. and Lydia Ann (Miller) Lehman. On September 11, 1958, in Elkhart County she married LeRoy Nisley, he died August 7, 2017.
Surviving are three daughters, Miriam (Edwin) Miller of Middlebury, Martha (Wilbur) Bontrager of Shipshewana, and Mary Kathryn (Ernest) Miller of Middlebury; five sons, Wilbur (Waneta) Nisley, Gerald (Marilyn) Nisley, John (Wanda) Nisley, Steve (Eldora) Nisley, and David (Suetta) Nisley all of Goshen; 54 grandchildren, 121 great grandchildren; sister, Polly Anna (Lavern) Miller of Kingston, WI; two sisters-in-law, Amanda Lehman of WI and Ellen Lehman of OH; two brothers, Elmer J. Lehman of Shipshewana and LaVern A. (Lydia Mae) Lehman of Middlebury.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers, Mervin, John and Lester Lehman; and one sister, Esther Chupp.
Mary was a homemaker and a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Visitation will be after 2:00 pm on Thursday, June 8, and all day Friday, June 9, at the L.R. Nisley & Sons Shop, 62660 CR 35, Goshen. Funeral services will be at 9:30 am on Saturday, June 10, at the same shop. Services will be conducted by the home ministers. Burial will be in Nisley Cemetery, Goshen. Mose Nisley, Jr., 62, of Fredericksburg, passed away Thursday, June 1, 2023 after an extended illness. He passed away peacefully at home with his family at his side.
He was born on March 16, 1961 in Wayne County to the late Mose and Susie (Yoder) Nisley and married Fannie L. Hostetler on June 3, 1982. She preceded him in death on Oct. 20, 2014. He was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Surviving are his children, Joseph (Mary) Nisley of Apple Creek, Mary (Benny) Petersheim of Wooster, Barbara (Samuel) Hostetler of McKay, Robert (Barbara) Nisley, Miriam Hostetler and Marie (Junior) Petersheim all of Fredericksburg, Leon Nisley of the home, Linda (Jacob) Petersheim, Edwin (Edna) Nisley and Martha (Dan) Hostetler all of Fredericksburg and Norman (Rebekah) Nisley of Holmesville; 37 grandchildren and brothers and sisters, Jonas (Susie) Nisley, Elizabeth Schmucker, Abner (Barbara) Nisley, Eli (Malinda) Nisley, Katie Nisley, the late Roy (Sarah) Nisley and William Nisley.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Fannie; son, Levi; son-in-law, Vernon Hostetler; his parents; brothers, Roy and David Nisley, sister, Barbara Nisley and brother-in-law, William Schmucker.
Services will be Sunday, June 4th at 9:00 a.m. at the Nisley Residence, 4328 Graber Rd., Fredericksburg with Bishop Levi Hostetler officiating. Burial will be in the Graber Road Cemetery. Edna Nissley, 90 years, 2 months, 1 day, of Springfield, Ohio, formerly of Arthur, Illinois, passed away peacefully March 6, 2023, at 11:45 pm at Wooded Glen Health Campus in Springfield, Ohio.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Sunnyside Mennonite Church in Arcola, Illinois with Pastor Larry Rocke officiating. Burial will be in the Sunnyside Mennonite Church cemetery. Visitation will be two hours prior to the funeral, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the church. Edwards Funeral Home, Arcola, Illinois is assisting with arrangements.
Edna was born January 5, 1933, in Arthur, Illinois, the daughter of Joe C. and Bertha (Miller) Herschberger and grew up in Arthur.
Edna married David Nissley of Kalona, Iowa on October 20, 1955. They lived in Holy Matrimony for 66 years and 23 days. He passed away on November 12, 2021.
She is survived by 3 children – Lavern Nissley and his wife, Ronda, of Springfield, Ohio; Ken Nissley of Greenfield, Indiana; Karen Myers and her husband, Gordon, of Dripping Springs, Texas; 5 grandchildren and 1 step-grandchild; 4 great-grandchildren and 6 step-great-grandchildren and 2 step great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, David; her parents; 2 brothers, Edward Herschberger, Levi Herschberger; 4 sisters, Alma Miller, Elizabeth Miller, Nettie Schrock, Verna Herschberger; and daughter-in-law, Terri Nissley.
While living in Goshen, Indiana Edna and her family attended Mt. Joy Conservative Mennonite Church. In Arthur, they attended Sunnyside Mennonite Church. After moving to Springfield, Ohio they attended Westside Christian Community Church.
Edna was a long-time server at Das Dutchman Essenhaus in Middlebury, Indiana where her friendliness and hospitality were enjoyed by thousands of restaurant guests.
David and Edna served one year of voluntary service through Rosedale Mennonite Missions in Arkansas, Louisville, Cincinnati, and Bethel Camp, Kentucky.
Edna was well known for her cooking and gift of hospitality as well as for gardening and maintaining dozens of beautiful flowers. She often prepared seasonal bouquets of flowers for services at Sunnyside.

Nissley, Ruth A. Rohrer
June 2, 1925 - May 5, 2023
Ruth A. Rohrer Nissley, 97 of Lititz, formerly of Mount Joy, passed away Friday, May 5th at Landis Homes. Born in Lampeter, she was the daughter of the late Jacob H. and Anna Groff Rohrer and the wife of the late John H. Nissley who passed away in 2013. She would have celebrated her 98th birthday on June 2nd.
Ruth lived in Rapho Township for over 60 years as a full-time homemaker and devoted mother. She enjoyed working alongside her husband on the farm. She also enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, cooking and serving others.
She was a charter member of Bethel Mennonite Church, Lancaster, where she served as Hospitality Chairperson and a Sunday School teacher. She later attended Landisville Mennonite Church and was active in their sewing circle. She was a 4-H leader for over 40 years and volunteered at the Mennonite Home and Mount Joy Meals on Wheels.
She is survived by four children, Darwin Nissley (Deb) of Mount Joy; Trudy Capers (Dino) of Lititz, Bernard Nissley (Rhonda) of Mount Joy and Rosey Nissley (Crystal) of Flourtown, PA. She is also survived by three grandsons, Travis Nissley (Colleen) of West Chester, PA Clark Nissley of Missoula, MT and Justin Nissley of Mount Joy, as well as three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Swarr and Edna Buckwalter and three brothers, Melvin G. Rohrer, J. Lloyd Rohrer and Harold G. Rohrer.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Ruth's memorial service on Friday May 12th at 7 p.m. at Landisville Mennonite Church, 3320 Bowman Road, Landisville. Visitation with the family will be at the church before the service from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. and following the service. Interment will be private. The family extends their gratitude to the compassionate caregivers at Landis Homes where she lived for the past 9 months.

March 8, 1938 - February 11, 2023
Donald B. Noll, 84, of Mountville, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 11, 2023. He was born in Lancaster, son of the late Earl H. and Esther Brubaker Noll. Don was the husband of Shirley (Heisey) Noll for 66 years.
Don was baptized in the Mennonite faith and enjoyed gardening, metal and wood working and anything to do with cars. He operated his farm in West Hempfield Township and later worked at Burnham Corporation for 13 years and retired from Fulton Bank in the Property Management Department, after 15 years of service.
Surviving in addition to his wife, his daughter: Amy (Noll) Leaman wife of Randall, and his son: Jeffrey Noll and his companion: Lisa Kurenda. Three grandchildren: Matthew Leaman, Nathan Leaman and his significant other: Lindsey McCurdy and Lindsey (Leaman) Sullivan wife of Zachary. Six great-grandchildren: Haley, Justin, Oliver, Ellie, Madison and Maggie. One brother: Robert Noll. He was preceded in death by siblings: John Noll, Kenneth Noll and Mary Jane Noll.

Marian E. Noll, 77, of Elizabethtown, passed away on Monday, September 18, 2023 at her home with her family by her side. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Elvin and Pearl (Hollinger) Weaver. Marian was the wife of James M. Noll with whom she celebrated 59 years of marriage this past September 12th.
Marian was a graduate of Elizabethtown Area High School. A homemaker, Marian was always there to support her husband with any task on the farm and anything else he was doing. Whether it was driving truck, combine or moving any other equipment, she was by his side. She enjoyed working on the local Republican Committee. A member of Community Bible Church in Marietta, she worked in the nursery and loved teaching children from her early years until the end. Marian collected Longaberger Baskets, was an avid gardener and volunteered at her church and in her community. Everyone loved her beautiful smile.
Surviving in addition to her husband, James, are two sons, Kevin Noll, husband of Holly of Mount Joy and Ken Noll, husband of Kathi of Manheim; eight grandchildren, Courtney Seekins, wife of Justin of Fairborne, OH, Laura King, wife of David of Elizabethtown, Taylor Muir, wife of Zac of Landisville, and Timothy, Eva, Joshua, Daniel, and Jacob Noll all of Manheim; great-granddaughter, Lydia Seekins; a brother, Jay Weaver, husband of Carol of Phoenixville, PA; and a sister, Barbara Angert, wife of Thomas of Ephrata.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Justin David Noll and a brother, Marvin Weaver.

Noll, Robert Brubaker
April 5, 1920 - December 11, 2023
Robert Brubaker Noll, 103, of Rohrerstown, passed away peacefully and went home to be with his Lord and Savior after a brief illness, on Monday, December 11, 2023. He was the husband of the late Verna Widders Noll, his loving wife, who passed away in November of 1996. He was born in Rohrerstown, son of the late Earl Harnish Noll and Esther Brubaker Noll.
Robert was a lifelong farmer who enjoyed hard work and the outdoors, until his retirement in 1986. From his birth, he was a lifelong member of Rohrerstown Mennonite Church and for 60 years, served as president of the Rohrerstown Mennonite Church Cemetery Board. He enjoyed numerous hobbies, such as welding and woodworking, resulting in the crafting of chairs, a coffee table, miniature rocking chairs and small prayer stools. One of his greatest accomplishments was making a 1/8 scale Conestoga covered wagon, very similar to the Conestoga freight wagon that he as a child saw his grandfather use for many years.
Additionally, he enjoyed many years of deer hunting with numerous friends. Probably, one of his greatest joys in his life was flying his PA18 Piper Cub airplane, which he kept on his farm. He actively flew as a private pilot from age 27 until 93 1/2 years of age. Along with flying, he made countless friends as a member of the Pennsylvania and International Flying Farmers Association.
He is survived by two daughters and a son: Mary (Dennis) Lyday, Tucson, AZ; Alice (Daniel) Harder, Spartanburg, SC and Charles Robert (Darlene) Noll, Lancaster. Eight grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren. One son-in-law: Joseph Mast, Lancaster. He was preceded in death by his eldest daughter: Nancy Louise Mast, his younger brother and sister: John B. Noll and Mary Jane Noll, who were twins, a younger brother: Kenneth B. Noll and his youngest brother: Donald B. Noll.
A Private Viewing will be held for the immediate family at the Workman Funeral Homes, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Mountville on Friday, December 15, 2023. A Private Interment will be held at Rohrerstown Mennonite Cemetery (Across from the LGH Health Campus). A Public Memorial Service will be held at Rohrerstown Mennonite Church, 601 Rohrerstown Road, Lancaster, PA 17603 on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 10:30 A.M. with Pastor David Torres, officiating. Following a light luncheon, family and friends are welcome to visit with the Noll families.

Nolt, Allen "Ray"
September 29, 1950 - December 18, 2023
Allen "Ray" Nolt, 73, of Ephrata, passed away on Monday, December 18, 2023, after injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. He was born in Ephrata to the late Allen S. and Mary (Horst) Nolt and was the husband of Nancy (Ressler) Nolt with whom he shared 49 years of marriage.
Ray attended Ephrata Community Church where he was involved in the Men's Ministry Group. During his working years, he worked for various employers as a truck driver and valued Transport for Christ trucking ministry. Ray enjoyed hunting, fishing, attending auctions and tinkering in his workshop. He valued helping others and enjoyed spreading the word of God.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Janelle Ranae Nolt, Janetta Ranae, wife of Joseph Hibshman; four grandchildren, Eli Henry, Jesse Lyle, Gracelyn Mary and Katherine Janaye; siblings Mervin H. husband of Ruby Nolt, Glenn H., husband of Ruth Ann Nolt, Leon H., husband of Anna Mary Nolt, Mary Ellen, wife of the late Abram Zimmerman and Luke H., husband of Janice Nolt.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Irene Nolt and Erma Weaver.
A viewing will be held on Friday, December 22, 2023, from 5 to 8 PM, at Martindale Mennonite Fellowship Center, 352 Martindale Road, Ephrata. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 23, 2023, at 10 AM, at the Fellowship Center, with Pastor Kevin Eshleman officiating. Interment will take place in Middle Creek Cemetery.

November 22, 1951 - March 10, 2023
Alvin Weaver Nolt, 71, of Quarryville returned to the arms of the Lord, March 10, 2023. He was born to the late Ivan and Lydia (Weaver) Nolt in Reamstown, PA. He retired in 2017 from the United States Postal Service, where he was a mail carrier for 20 years. He also spent some of his career with Victor Weaver and Goods Furniture.
Alvin was a simple man who was quick to make a joke or entice a laugh from those around him. He was a hard worker and dedicated to any project, task or chore he picked up. Alvin often brought a smile to his beloved wife Fran and children's faces with his good nature and quirky personality. He loved spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren. The Lord built Alvin's home and he was devout in his faith. It could also be said that Alvin was very pragmatic, and he took a common-sense approach to teaching his children the necessary skills they would need to succeed in life. In his leisure time Alvin enjoyed hunting deer. He was quite fond of animals and his dogs.
Alvin is survived by his wife of 52 years Frances Nolt; his children Denise Clements wife of Ted, Alvin L. Nolt husband of Bobbi Jo, Hope Nolt, and Holly Gonsalves wife of Andre; his grandchildren Randi Kelley wife of Bryan, Torri Nolt, Carson Nolt, Tyler Williams, Gabby Williams, Hunter Williams, Trenton Clements husband of Keriann, DeAndre Gonsalves, Arionna Gonsalves, Zahera Gonsalves, Xavier Gonsalves; and his great-grandchildren Landon, Luke, Milo and Oscar; his siblings Ivan Nolt, Jr, Rose Esch, Lois Esch, and Darlene Varner; and many nieces and nephews. Along with his parents he is preceded by his sister Evelyn Nolt.
A funeral service will take place Friday March 17, 2023, at Petra Church, 565 Airport Rd., New Holland, PA, at 1 PM. Family invites guests to a viewing prior to service beginning at 11 AM and concluding at 12:30 PM.

Andrew D. Nolt, age 49, of Kirkwood, passed away at the Mount Joy Hospice Center on Friday, August 11, 2023. He was the companion of Shelley L. Mowery, with whom he resided. He was born in Lancaster, son of Shirley Denlinger Nolt of Paradise and the late David L. Nolt. He worked for Andrews Excavating of Willow Street. He graduated from Pequea Valley High School class of 1993. He enjoyed going to the mountains and was mechanically inclined and enjoyed fixing things. Also surviving are 2 sons: Austin husband of Camberly Riehl Nolt and Bailey Nolt both of Gap, 3 siblings: Michael A. husband of Vicki King Nolt of New Holland, Karen J. wife of Loren L. Anna Mae Nolt, 44, of 216 Linden Grove Road, New Holland, passed away at UPMC Lititz on Wednesday, April 19, 2023. She was the wife of James O. Nolt. Born in East Earl, she was the daughter of Harvey B. and Edna W. Horst Sensenig of East Earl.
Anna Mae was a homemaker and a member of the New Holland Mennonite Church, Groffdale Conference.

Bryce L. Nolt, "Bman", 22, went to his heavenly home, via a car accident, the morning of Saturday, October 7th, 2023.
Born in Talmage, he was the son of Ivan W. and Jolyn R. Nolt of Lititz.
Bryce was a homeschool graduate of Mason Dixon H.A. Being a self-taught computer tech/programmer and mechanical engineer, he was employed in design and fabrication at Tuffy Tables.
Bryce was all "in" with life. He lived life to the fullest. He had no time for sleep. He loved his younger siblings dearly. He was a member of Trail Life USA and was just returning as a leader, taking his younger brothers to their first troop meetings. He had no strangers, everyone was his friend. He loved to help his friends in any way he could. He attended New Covenant Mennonite Fellowship most of his life.
Bryce is survived by his parents, Ivan and Jolyn, his oldest brother Marc, his younger brothers Wyatt and Trevan, and his little sister, Tia.
May Bryce's passion for life and his love for family and friends inspire us all to live our lives to the fullest in the honor and glory of our Lord Jesus.

Emma B. Nolt, 90, of Lititz, passed away at home on Sunday, July 9, 2023.
She was married 69 years to Willis W. Nolt. Born in New Holland, she was the daughter of the late John G. and Magdalena R. Burkholder Leid.
Emma was a homemaker and a member of the Groffdale Mennonite Church, Weaverland Conference.
Surviving besides her husband is a daughter, Esther N. wife of David A. Miller of Manheim; two sons-in-law, Leroy Z. husband of Dorcas Weaver Zimmerman of Marietta, and Lamar H. husband of Lois E. Hostetter Nolt of Lititz; 15 grandchildren, 73 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandsons; and a sister Susanna B. Lemmon of Harrisonburg, VA. She was preceded in death by daughters, Lena L. Zimmerman (Leroy) and Edna L. Nolt (Lamar), 1 grandson, 2 great granddaughters, and by siblings, Amos B. Leid, Elmer B Leid, Ella W. Zimmerman, Ivan W. Leid, John Jacob Leid, Paul E. Leid, Mabel W. Hoover, Anna Mary Leid, and Lizzie Imhoff.

Irene M. Nolt, 79, of Stevens, passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at her residence.
She was born in Earl Township to the late Weaver W. and Bertha (Martin) Nolt and was the wife of William H. Nolt, with whom she shared 58 years of marriage.
She was a member of Leola Mennonite Church. Irene worked as a homemaker and enjoyed babysitting many children who referred to her as "grandma."
In addition to her husband, Irene is survived by six children, Karen Nolt of Ephrata, Jay Nolt of New Cumberland, Ann Nolt of Stevens, Rachel Harris-Drum, wife of James Drum of Catawissa, Matthew, husband of Ruthie Nolt of Gettysburg, Joshua, husband of Ruby Nolt of Newmanstown; 16 grandchildren; 3 great-grandsons; six siblings, Bertha, wife of Melvin Zehr, Janet, wife of Ivan Musser, Carl, husband of Mary Nolt, Loretta Nolt, Weaver Jr., husband of Thelma Nolt and Leon, husband of Karen Nolt.

Nolt who passed away in 2022. She was born in New Holland, PA on October 10, 1935, a daughter of the late Aaron H. and Edna Kurtz. Jane was a homemaker and enjoyed serving others. She was a member of the Millbach Mennonite Church (Weaverland Conference).

October 20, 1937 - January 1, 2023
Menno W. Nolt, 85, of Ephrata, passed away on January 1, 2023 as a resident of Fairmount Homes. Born in Springville, he was the son of the late Noah Z. and Lizzie M. (Weaver) Nolt.
He was a member Springville Mennonite Church (Weaverland Conference) and was employed as a taxi driver in his later years.
Menno is survived by his sisters: Frances Martin and Martha wife of Irvin Zimmerman, his sister-in-law: Lydia Nolt and many nieces and nephews.

Rebecca N. Nolt, 85, of Ephrata, passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at her residence. Born in New Holland to the late Paul and Rebecca (Nolt) Newswanger, she was the wife of the late Ivan H. Nolt. Rebecca was a member of Conestoga Mennonite Church, Groffdale COnference.

Sidney G. Nolt, 70, of Richland PA passed away at Hershey Medical Center, on Wednesday July 12, 2023, after a short illness. He was the husband of Katie Mae Zimmerman Nolt. They were married on September 8, 1973. He was born In Lebanon County on November 28, 1952, son of the late Elmer S. and Pauline Gingrich Nolt. Sidney was a retired farmer and a member of Millbach Mennonite Church of Weaverland Conference.

Sue Etta Nolt, 96, of Ephrata, died Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at Lincoln Christian Home. Born in New Holland, she was the daughter of the late John and Leah (Shirk) Nolt.
Sue Etta worked in various area garment factories and was a member of Groffdale Mennonite church, Weaverland Conference.
Surviving is a sister Leah S. Nolt, Ephrata, and 11 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by eight siblings: Harvey S. Nolt, John C. Nolt, Daniel S. Nolt, Ella Martin, Mary S. Nolt, Frances Buckwalter, Emma S. Nolt, and Vera S. Nolt and a niece, Ella W. Nolt.
Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at 9:30 a.m. at Groffdale Mennonite Church with Bishop Curvin Zimmerman, Jonathan Martin, Edwin Reiff, and Walter Zimmerman officiating. Thelma E. Nolt, 63, of Mohnton, passed away on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at Hospice and Community Care in Mount Joy. She was married 44 years to Weaver M. Nolt, Jr. Born in Reinholds, she was the daughter of the late Amos and Verna Weaver Horning.
Thelma had worked in the Gift Shop at Shady Maple for many years. She was a member of Park View Mennonite Church. Her interests included camping, biking on trails, gardening and she was an avid scrapbooker.
Surviving besides her husband are two sons, Quintin husband of Deann Nolt, of Frystown, and Glendon husband of Sarah Nolt of Reinholds; two daughters, Jessica wife of Jeff Dieffenbach of Stevens, and Paula wife of Jerry Musser of Myerstown; seventeen grandchildren, one great-grandchild; three sisters, Lorraine wife of Bennett Charlton of Dalton, OH, Alma wife of Nelson Martin of Mount Joy, and Ruth Ann wife of Roy Martin of New Holland; two brothers, Leonard husband of Elaine Horning of Denver, and Kenneth husband of Karen Horning of Elizabethtown. She was preceded in death by sisters, Anna Joyce Martin and Erma Frey and by brothers, Wilmer Horning and Nevin Horning.

John Edward Nunemaker, 95, Goshen, died 6:30 p.m. Thursday, February 9, 2023, at his home. He was born November 19, 1927, in Elkhart County to Carl W. and Mary (Dils) Nunemaker. On August 28, 1948 he married Doris Jean (Wenger) Nunemaker, and she died August 18, 2017.
Surviving are a daughter, Connie (Mark) Haarer, Elkhart, 3 sons, Dale (Edna) Nunemaker, Goshen, Robert (Ronda) Nunemaker, Goshen, and Brian (Nancy) Nunemaker, Coldwater, Michigan, 11 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson.
Preceding him in death are his parents, his wife, Doris, 1 daughter, Sandra Garber, 4 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, daughter-in-law, Gwen Nunemaker and siblings, Ivan & Willis Nunemaker.
John was the owner and operator of Nunemaker Fertilizer and a farmer. He was a member of Holdeman Mennonite Church. John loved spending time with his family, including watching his son’s farm. He enjoyed fishing and watching IU basketball. An avid hunter, one of his joys in life was going to Wyoming. John was a Seagoing Cowboy. He loved to be barefoot.
Visitation will be 2-5 & 6-8 p.m. Sunday, February 12, 2023 and one hour prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service on Monday, February 13, 2023, all at Holdeman Mennonite Church, 65723 CR 1, Wakarusa. Curtis R, Nussbaum, 83, of Orrville and formerly of Kidron, passed away on Monday, March 6, 2023 at the Apostolic Christian Home in Rittman.
He was born near Kidron on November 18, 1939 to the late Gilbert and Olive (Gerber) Nussbaum and married Gloria Amstutz on June 27, 1964 and she survives.
He was the retired co-owner of Kaufman Nussbaum Plumbing, Heating and Cooling in Orrville. In retirement, he spent parts of the next ten years volunteering in Guatemala City, Guatemala, building and maintaining a seminary. He was also an active member of the Kidron Mennonite Church.
In addition to his wife Gloria, he is survived by sons, Van (Carla Wenger-Nussbaum) Nussbaum of Mishawaka, IN and Dan (Shanti DeFehr) Nussbaum of Oakville, ON, Canada; grandchildren, Jared (Emily Evans-Nussbaum), Nate (Mara Beck), Leo, Sachin and Colette; sisters, Ruth (Don) Lehman of Kidron, and Elaine (Larry) Short of Wauseon; a brother, Don (Ellen) Nussbaum of Kidron; and a sister-in-law, Dolores “Dee” Nussbaum of Kidron.
In addition to parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jon; a brother James; and an infant brother Earl Dale.

Gene Bryant Nussbaum, 60, a resident of Rockingham, VA formerly of Phoenix, AZ area, passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at his home.
Gene was born on November 27,1962 in Orrville, OH and was a son of Gordon Everette and Marjorie Ann Gerber Nussbaum of Dalton, OH.
On April 7, 1984 at Oak Grove Mennonite Church in Smithville, OH he married Marcia Kay Wiebe Nussbaum who survives.
Also surviving are his children, Kendal Nussbaum and wife Megan of Colorado Springs, CO, Kristin Wenger and husband Lance of Rockingham, Micah Nussbaum and wife Britney of Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren, Parker Nussbaum, Ellia Nussbaum, Everly Wenger, Reagan Wenger, Kennedy Nussbaum and Macie Wenger; and siblings, Kirk Nussbaum and wife Joy of Dalton, OH, Brent Nussbaum and wife Joyce of Rockingham, Kip Nussbaum and wife Lisa of Orrville OH.
A family celebration of life will be held in Kidron, OH May 27 and Estes, CO in June.
Nussbaum, Mary Ebersole
June 30, 1921 - June 3, 2023
Mary Nussbaum completed her 101 year life on Saturday [June 3, 2023] as a steadfast model of love and family-based peace building. Raising 10 children on her Mennonite homestead, Mary faithfully grew most of her fresh fruits and vegetables until she was well into her 90s.
Grandma Nussbaum or Grandma Mary as she was affectionately called always had time to hold a child on her cozy lap, or give a strong hug to whoever was visiting her. All of her family members have hand-quilted covers that remind us of how much Grandma loved her family.
Instead of piling up treasures on earth, Grandma Mary focused her time on building good relationships with her family, praying for each daily, and caring for her large garden. She faithfully sent handwritten letters to each of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren on their birthdays, and regularly corresponded by email until May 21st. of 2023.
She died peacefully at home of old age on June 3, 2023, at her residence in Orrville, surrounded my family members.
Mary was born on June 30, 1921, in Marshallville, Ohio, to the late Ira and Effie (Steiner) Ebersole, attended Smithville High School, and married Aaron I. Nussbaum on October 21, 1943, in Rittman. Aaron died on May 13, 2009.
She worked in housekeeping for a nursing home, provided in-home care, and made a home for her family. Mary was a long-time member of Crown Hill Mennonite Church, where she was very active piecing and quilting for Women Serving Christ.
Surviving are ten children, David (Eldina) Nussbaum of Orrville, Paul Nussbaum of Rittman, Esther Walthour of PA, Samuel (Maggie) Nussbaum of PA, Earl (Rebecca) Nussbaum of PA, Nathan (Judy) Nussbaum of PA, Ruth Suter of VA, Lois (Bob) Bixler of MO, John Mark (Lisa) Nussbaum of IN, and Rose Mary Hackman of PA; 25 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren, 6 step grandchildren; 16 step great grandchildren; 4 step great-great grandchildren; and many nieces & nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by siblings, Anna Blackmore, Ferne Conrad, Earl Ebersole, and John Paul Ebersole; two grandchildren, Matthew Walthour and Larissa Nussbaum; and two great grandchildren, Abigail Nussbaum and Ezra Nussbaum.
Services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at Crown Hill Mennonite Church, 9693 Benner Road, Rittman, with Pastor Thomas Dunn officiating. Burial will take place at the Crown Hill Mennonite Cemetery in Rittman.

Mary Jane Beahrs Nussbaum passed away peacefully at the age of 90 on July 10, 2023. She was born on February 24, 1933, in Maples, IN. Following graduation from high school, Mary worked for Lincoln Life Corporation until her marriage to Charles Nussbaum in 1963.
Mary was a faithful member of Maplewood Mennonite Church where she taught children’s Sunday School for nearly 50 years and volunteered at their food bank. She loved children and served as a teacher’s helper with Maplewood’s Nursery School for many years. Mary always enjoyed hosting family gatherings and playing games with family and friends.
She is survived by her two daughters, Lorena Hatfield, and Margo (Judy Scott) Nussbaum; grandson, Jonathan Hatfield; sister Kay (Don) Phelps; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years Charles Nussbaum, and siblings Imogene Beahrs, Harold Beahrs, Robert (Helen) Beahrs, and Doris (Ed) Springer.

Ruby Nussbaum, 92, of Goshen died Sunday afternoon, July 9, 2023 at Greencroft Healthcare from a stroke.
She was born April 23, 1931, in LaGrange County, Indiana, to Noah and Mary (Christner) Glick.
On August 30, 1953, she married Nathan Nussbaum (from Kidron, Ohio) at Emma Mennonite Church.
Five of her six children survive her: Ethan (Carol) Nussbaum of Lexington, South Carolina; Rebecca (Don) Rohrer of Elkhart; Jonathan (Becky) Nussbaum of Union, Michigan; David Nussbaum of Goshen; and Rachel (Rick) Eby of Goshen; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving is a sister, Vi Farmwald of Wolcottville; and three brothers, Harvey (Jean) Glick of LaGrange, Gary Glick of Shipshewana and Walter (Becky) Glick of LaGrange.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2016; her son Evan in 2022, her parents; one sister, Maggie Glick; and two brothers, Virgil and Stanley Glick.
Ruby was a full-time homemaker most of her life and was a member of North Goshen Mennonite Church.
Visitation will be Friday, July 14, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen.

Oberholtzer, Rhoda Stauffer
March 3, 1931 - November 6, 2023
Rhoda Stauffer Oberholtzer, 92, of Lititz, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, died peacefully and went home to be with her Lord on Monday, November 6, 2023 at Landis Homes Retirement Community. Born in Lititz, she was the daughter of the late Roy, Sr. and Florence Wenger Stauffer. Rhoda was the loving wife of Jay R. Oberholtzer. They celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary in May of this year. Rhoda's marriage to Jay was a double marriage ceremony with her twin sister Ruth and Lloyd Denlinger in 1952.
In 1954 Rhoda and Jay moved to Cleveland, Ohio where she worked at the Cleveland University Hospital. After two years Rhoda and Jay moved back to Lititz where they both were involved in the family business, Stauffers of Kissel Hill Fresh Food & Garden Center. Rhoda founded and managed the Floral Design Department, making custom floral arrangements and taught floral design classes. She was also active in the local Floral Club and won many awards. She worked for Stauffers of Kissel Hill for 48 years, retiring in 1996. Rhoda's spiritual commitment and interest in floral design led to her development of programs she presented with scriptural interpretation with flowers to many organizations and groups. Throughout the years Rhoda presented over 500 programs by traveling to many places in the U.S., Canada and even to Shanghai, China and Africa.
In 2015 Rhoda shared her life story in a book she published titled "Designed" A Life of Business Fulfilled with Purpose". Rhoda was an active and faithful member of Lititz Mennonite Church where she served on Church Council, a Sunday School Superintendent and Vacation Bible School Teacher. Through the years Rhoda served on several Business and Nonprofit Boards: 1st Federal Savings & Loan, Sovereign Bank and Executive Board of Sovereign Bancorp, Mennonite Economic Development Association, Eastern Mennonite Mission Board and Shalom Publishing Board. Rhoda volunteered her time helping to mentor for Assets, taught women's bible studies and was a spiritual director for many women.
The wellbeing of her family was of the utmost importance to her. Her desire to share her faith and experiences in life through teaching and parables was equally important to her. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister and friend. She enjoyed the outdoors, nature, cooking, teaching, skiing with family, camping, riding motorcycles with friends, traveling and mission work. Her love, kind loving spirit and servant heart will always be remembered by those who knew her.
Survived by her husband Jay, their three sons: Donovan, husband of Carol Oberholtzer of Lititz, Gregory, husband of Jeannie Oberholtzer of Blooming Grove, Steven, husband of Sheri Oberholtzer of Lititz, four grandchildren: Jana, wife of James Mackay, Justin, husband of Lori Oberholtzer, David Oberholtzer, Bryan Oberholtzer, five great-grandchildren: Leah Mackay, Josiah James Mackay, Kendon Mackay, Talia Oberholtzer, Benjamin Oberholtzer, three brothers: Earl Stauffer of Florida, James, husband of Sue Stauffer of Lititz, Paul, husband of Valerie Stauffer of Lancaster, three sisters: Martha, wife of James Garber of Mount Joy, Jean, wife of Richard Eby of New Holland and Shirley, wife of Frank Burris of Elizabethtown. Preceding her in death are two brothers: Roy Stauffer, Jr., Robert Stauffer, three sisters: twin sister, Ruth Denlinger, Mary Sweigart, and Dorothy Tweed.

Olinger, Victor Dale
June 13, 1957 - December 2, 2023
Victor Dale Olinger, 66, of Quarryville, went home to be with the Lord unexpectedly on Saturday, December 2, 2023, due to complications from a motorcycle accident in late October. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Dale and Arlene (Heisey) Olinger. He was the loving husband of Thelma (Kauffman) Olinger for 41 years.
Victor was a 1976 graduate of Elizabethtown High School and had worked as an auto mechanic for over 40 years. He had most recently been driving truck for Weaver Mulch in Coatesville. He attended Victory Church in Quarryville and enjoyed riding motorcycle, camping, and taking walks with his dog. Victor loved spending time with his family, especially his 7 grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Victor is survived by 3 children: Rebecca (Darren) Charles of Lancaster; Brian (Karelin) Olinger of Coatesville; and Rachel (Doug) Smoker of Parkesburg. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren and a sister, Judy Marley.
A celebration of Victor's life will take place at Victory Church, 15 E. Enrique Ortiz, 86, Goshen, died 2:35 a.m. Saturday, July 29, 2023 at Greencroft Healthcare, Goshen. He was born September 16, 1936 to Eulogio Alvarado and Rafaela Ortiz. On November 14, 1964, he married Kathleen J. (Martin) Ortiz, and she died January 29, 2017.
Surviving are his sister, Sylvia Rivera, Texas, 3 nephews, Jose Melendez, Puerto Rico, Domingo Ortiz, Florida, Edwin Ortiz, Florida, and 2 nieces, Aida Zayaz, Elkhart, Indiana, Margarita Melendez, Nebraska.
Preceding him in death are his parents, wife, Kathleen, a brother, Domingo Ortiz, a sister, Aida Alvarado, and a nephew, Eli Ortiz.
Enrique served as a pastor for 24 years in 3 different churches and as Executive Secretary for the Puerto Rico Mennonite Conference. Enrique also, worked in Maintenance and as a Mechanic. Daniel J. Otto, 85 years, and 24 days, of Tuscola, Illinois formerly of rural Arthur, Illinois passed away at 12:59 A.M. on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.
Funeral services will be held at 9:00 A.M. on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at the HCK West Building, one mile South of Arthur, Illinois. Bishop Matthew Miller will officiate. Daniel was born on August 2, 1938, in Douglas County, IL. He was a son of Jonas and Sarah (Mast) Otto. He married Annie Mae Kauffman on September 11, 1958, they lived in Holy Matrimony for 42 years, 11 months, and 22 days; Annie passed away on September 2, 2001. He later married Fannie D. Miller on September 10, 2002, they lived in Holy Matrimony for 20 years, 11 months and 16 days.
Daniel is survived by his wife Fannie of Tuscola, IL; four children, David Otto and his wife Rachel (Lee) of Arcola, IL, Viola Yoder and her husband Lyle of Arthur, IL, Wilmer Otto and his wife Martha (Yutzy) of Trenton, MO, and Delbert Otto of Trenton, MO; seven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; one brother, David J. Otto and his wife Christina of Arcola, IL; six sisters, Ella Otto, Lydia Otto, Mary Otto, Susanna Otto all of Arcola, IL, Miriam Schrock and her husband Jonas of Arcola, IL and Verna Herschberger and her husband Monroe of Sullivan, IL.
Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, Jonas D, and Sarah D (Mast) Otto, and two sisters Sarah Otto, and Ada J. Miller and her husband Harvey.
Daniel owned and operated Chestercreek Harness Shop for many years and served as a Bishop in the Old Order Amish Church.

Dorothy was born on December 15, 1945 in Tuscola, Illinois. She was the daughter of Melvin J. and Katie W. (Schrock) Kauffman. She married Paul E. Otto on October 28, 1967, at Sunnyside Mennonite Church in rural Arcola, Illinois.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Paul Otto of Arthur, IL; three sons, Steve Otto and his wife Melissa of Arthur, IL, Gary Otto and his wife Sarah of Lerna, IL, and Jeff Otto and his wife Mallory of Mattoon, IL; six grandchildren, Kailee and Marcus Otto, Wes and Morgan Otto and her fiancé Mac Hickman and Carter and Caleb Otto; four siblings, Virgil Kauffman and his wife Sarah of Arthur, IL, Carolyn Kauffman of Arthur, IL, Larry Kauffman and his wife Delores of Arthur, IL and Sharon Rocke and her husband Larry of Tuscola, IL; and a sister-in-law, Debby Kauffman of Arthur, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson, Lucas Otto, and one brother, Clifford Kauffman.
Dorothy was a member of the Sunnyside Mennonite Church of Arcola, Illinois and Gideons International.
Dorothy retired from Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in 2011 after 26 years of service.
Dorothy enjoyed sewing and quilting. She also enjoyed baking; her cinnamon rolls were legendary. She also made homemade bread, cookies, and candy of all kinds. Some folks even shipped peanuts to her in anticipation of some of Dorothy’s peanut brittle.
Dorothy and Paul have been involved in the Mennonite Relief Sale for 45 years. They founded the “Peadro Stand” in 1993; it has been a favorite staple at the Mennonite Relief Sale ever since. When Dorothy and Paul moved to Arthur, they had a porch built onto their home so they could enjoy family, friends, and neighbors; another opportunity to share a treat “Popcorn on the Porch” as they liked to call it.
Dorothy’s family was very special to her, especially her grandchildren. She always enjoyed going to their ball games and any event they were a part of. She was proud of all of them.

Faye Oye, 87, of Arthur, Illinois passed away at 12:31 PM on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Illinois.

Faye was born on November 7, 1935 in Gamaliel, Kentucky. She was the daughter of Edd Lewis and Mary Iva (Proffit) Ryherd. She married Duane Oye on February 21, 1953 in Arthur, Illinois; and he passed away on March 20, 2018.
She is survived by five daughters, Debby Kauffman of Arthur, IL, Sandy Snyder of Arthur, IL, Becky Miller and her husband Dan of Arthur, IL, Kathy Yoder and her husband Cliff of Sullivan, IL and Karen Litteral of Arthur, IL, 11 grandchildren, Kim Weber and her husband Rob, Kyle Kauffman and his wife Whitney, Jeff Snyder and his wife Michelle, Bricen Miller and his fiancé Yuliya, Brent Miller and his wife Bethany, Brianne Eads and her husband Treston, Mike Yoder and his wife CJ, Steve Yoder, Chad Yoder and his wife Maria, Elizabeth Johnson and Mark Mentzer; 25 great-grandchildren, one brother Jimmy Ryherd of Kentucky, and a sister-in-law, Nadean Ryherd of Arthur, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sons-in-law, DeWayne Snyder and Clifford Kauffman, twin great grandsons, Carter James and Clark Duane Yoder, four sisters, Essie Mae Harlin, Willa “Dean” Davis, Wilma Lucy O’Banion and Mary Eva Whitis, five brothers, Homer Dwaine Ryherd, Carl Edwin Ryherd, Paul Chase Ryherd, Audie Edward Ryherd and Johnny Clyde Ryherd.
Faye was a member of the Arthur Mennonite Church for several years.
Faye led a remarkable life filled with love, compassion, and dedication. Throughout her career as a beautician, she left an indelible mark on the community. In 1971, Faye opened “Faye’s Beauty Shop” in her home, a place where people came not only for beauty services, but for her warm smile and welcoming nature.
After retiring as a beautician, Faye dedicated her time to helping others. For 15 years she worked at the Homestead Bakery at the Great Pumpkin Patch and sharing a delicious treat with a warm smile and love. Faye selflessly volunteered at the Arthur MCC Thrift Shop.
Faye took great joy in gardening, canning, and quilting. Each stitch was carefully woven with love for all the quilts she made for each of her children and grandchildren.
Faye enjoyed gathering with friends, playing cards and dominos. Those times were filled with laughter, stories, and cherished moments. She always looked forward to spending time in Florida during the winter with her family and friends, time spent with those she loved that her family and friends will cherish forever.

Oyer, Richard "Dick"
June 29, 1931 - February 19, 2023
Richard “Dick” Oyer, 91, of Goshen, died Sunday, February 19, 2023, at Greencroft Gables Healthcare.
He was born June 29, 1931, in Gibson City, Illinois to Walter and Elizabeth “Betty” (Yoder) Oyer. He grew up on a dairy farm near Fisher, Illinois and attended a rural school for the first eight years of his education. He continued his education at Fisher High School, graduating in 1949 as valedictorian. He furthered his education at Bob Jones University, Greenville, South Carolina, graduating Magna Cum Laude. He earned his Master’s degree from the University of Colorado in 1959 and took additional graduate hours at the University of Iowa, Teacher’s College, Columbia University, and the University of Redlands in California.
Richard married Margaret “Margie” Yoder on August 16, 1958, in Denver, Colorado. She died April 6, 2013, after more than 54 years of marriage.
Richard served in the U.S. Army as a non-combatant from 1953 to 1955. He taught math at the junior high and high school level for 37 years in Kalona, Iowa and substitute taught for an additional five years.
His hobbies included gardening, traveling, reading, puzzle solving and volunteering. He and Margie visited Europe twice and were able to attend The Passion Play at Oberammergau, Germany. They enjoyed traveling to 15 foreign countries and have vacationed in all 50 states, except for one, which remains a mystery. They also went on two cruises: The Inland Passage to Alaska and to the Caribbean.
Dick accepted Christ as his Savior when he was baptized as a teen. He was a member of East Bend Mennonite Church, Fisher, Illinois.
Volunteering was always close to Dick’s heart; a few of the organizations that benefited from this are, Rocky Mountain Mennonite Camp, Divide, Colorado, The Crowded Closet in Iowa City, Iowa, The Depot in Goshen, Indiana, Spruce Forrest at Penn Alps in Garret County Maryland, and the Food Pantry in Kalona, Iowa.
Dick also helped start The United Fund in Kalona, Iowa and served as its first treasurer and president. He helped form the Council of Mid-Prairie Churches in the Kalona-Wellman-West Chester area and served as the treasurer at the Sharon Center in Iowa for more than 25 years.
He served as president and treasurer for the Board of Directors for the Kalona Public Library and was a member of the Kalona Public Library Foundation. He served on its committee and helped to pass a bond issue that resulted in the building of a new library. He was a founding member, treasurer, and president of The Kalona Garden Club.
He was a longtime member of College Mennonite Church in Goshen, Indiana, and was a part of the ushering group for funerals. He also served on the committee for the Men’s Fellowship.
He is survived by two sisters, Marilyn Miller, Bloomingdale, Illinois, Jean (Virgil) Cray, Flanagan, Illinois; a half-sister Linda Oyer, Glen Ellyn, Illinois; a half-brother, Ron (Jorge Kaba) Oyer, San Diego, California and many nieces and nephews. Richard is also survived by good friends, Emmon (Monique) Schmucker of Goshen, Indiana.
Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ellen Rose Oyer; an infant half-brother, Donald Oyer and stepmother, Freda Teuscher Oyer.
Visitation will be Saturday, April 22, 2023 from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. memorial service and celebration of life at College Mennonite Church, Goshen, Indiana.

Peachey, Paul L.
September 15, 1931 - February 12, 2023
Paul L. Peachey, 91, of Lancaster, PA, previously of Sarasota, Florida, passed peacefully away on Sunday, February 12, 2023. He was born near Zurich, Ontario, Canada, as the son of the late Stephen and Ruth Schrag Peachey. He was the husband of the late Shirley Jean Troyer Peachey, who died in 2011.
Paul left a legacy of kindness, gentleness, and faithfulness. He lived well, loved well, and was deeply loved. He attended Ontario Mennonite Bible School and Eastern Mennonite College, and then worked with International Voluntary Services for two years in Asyut, Egypt. Paul was a very active member of Bahia Vista Mennonite Church in Sarasota, FL, for almost 60 years.
During his free time, Paul enjoyed fishing and boating in the Sarasota Bay and tending numerous exotic tropical fruit trees, with a special passion for mangos. He enjoyed being with his family, extended family, and friends, and he often took them fishing. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 30 years to spend summers in Franklin, NC, tending his garden and cows, and enjoying time with his wife and all who visited.
Paul is survived by his two daughters, Sharon Peachey Marshall (John) of Sarasota, FL, and Melody Beiler (Samuel R.) of Sarasota, FL and Lancaster, PA, and his son, Paul S. Peachey (Julie) of Lancaster, PA. He is also survived by a sister, Esther Anne Chandler (Carl) of Biloxi, MS, and two brothers, John Peachey (Carol), Stephen Peachey (Carol) both of Myakka City, FL. He had five grandchildren, Christopher Beiler, Monica Beiler Vincent (Connor), Matthew Beiler, Erik Peachey, and Annaliese Peachey, and numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends. In addition to his wife Shirley, Paul was preceded in death by his daughter, Anne Marie, and two brothers, Urbane and James.

Petersheim, 41, of Shipshewana, (district: 49-4), died at 9:38 pm on Wednesday, May 10, [2023] at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne, following complications while delivering her infant son Luke David Petersheim. She was born on May 11, 1981, in Goshen, to Raymond J. and Dora J. (Miller) Wingard. On May 8, 2002, in Shipshewana, she married David M. Petersheim, he survives.
Survivors in addition to her husband are four daughters, Marla (special friend Joas Yoder) Petersheim, JoAnn Petersheim, Ida Ruth Petersheim, Deborah Petersheim; three sons, Loren Petersheim, Caleb Petersheim, Micah Petersheim all at home; parents, Raymond and Dora Wingard of Shipshewana; three brothers, Jonas (Elizabeth) Wingard of Shipshewana, John (Lori) Wingard of Middlebury, Andrew Wingard of Shipshewana; five sisters, Esther (Vernon) Miller, Catherine (Jacob) Yoder, Ruth Wingard all of Shipshewana, Susie (Loren) Jones of Topeka, Nettie Wingard of Shipshewana; brother-in-law, James Miller of Middlebury.

Katie D. Petersheim, 75, of Maysville, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 following diabetic complications.
She was born in Wayne County on May 9, 1948 to the late Dan and Lydia (Hershberger) Hershberger and on May 25, 1967 she married Ezra D. Petersheim. He survives.
She was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by 5 daughters and 3 sons, Ruth, Rosetta, and Wesley of the home, Edna (Nelson) Hershberger of Apple Creek, Marty (Mary) Petersheim of Dover, Christina (Mose) Nisley of Fredericksburg, Mary (David) Nisley of Apple Creek, and Nathan (Neva) Petersheim of Wooster; 24 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Mary (Eli) Hostetler of Danville, Elizabeth (Melvin) Hostetler of Apple Creek; brother-in-law, Aaron Hostetler of Pennsylvania.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Daniel; a daughter, Leona; a grandson, Larry Nisley; 3 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters; 1 brother.

Luke David Petersheim, stillborn son of David and Erma (Wingard) Petersheim, of Shipshewana, (district: 49-4), died at 6:03 pm on Wednesday, May 10, [2023] at Parkview LaGrange Hospital, from complications during childbirth from which his mother later passed away.
Survivors in addition to his father are four sisters, Marla (special friend Joas Yoder) Petersheim, JoAnn Petersheim, Ida Ruth Petersheim, Deborah Petersheim; three brothers, Loren Petersheim, Caleb Petersheim, Micah Petersheim all at home; grandparents, Raymond and Dora J. Wingard of Shipshewana, Menno and Inez Petersheim of Topeka.
His mother Erma followed him in death and a grandmother, Ida Petersheim preceded him in death.

Petersheim, Samuel L.
August 11, 1957 - August 25, 1969
Samuel L. Petersheim, age 65 of Ronks, passed away on Monday, March 27, 2023 at Hospice and Community Care in Mount Joy. He was the husband of Verna Mae Esh Petersheim with whom he celebrated 44 years of marriage on November 7th. Born in Gordonville, he was the son of the late Christ and Emma Lantz Petersheim. Sam was a member of Spring Garden Amish Mennonite Church in Kinzers. He owned and operated S.P. Masonry. In his free time, he loved going to the mountains, hunting, and snowmobiling.
Surviving besides his wife are 3 siblings: John, husband of Pam Petersheim of Wrightsville, Sara Gibbs of Ephrata, Aaron Petersheim of Narvon, and in-laws: Daniel, husband of Beck Esh of Paradise and Sadie Mae, wife of Phares Beiler of Ronks. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Custer.
A funeral service will take place at Spring Garden Amish Mennonite Church, 5157 Old Philadelphia Pike, Kinzers, on Wednesday, March 29th at 1 p.m. There will be a viewing time at the church on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and again from 6 to 8 p.m. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
